Watch and Act

The NSW SES is advising people in the following area(s) to STAY NEAR SHELTER due to x, y and z:

  • Perisher Valley
  • Thredbo Top Station
  • Falls Creek
A high pressure ridge lies across the eastern half of NSW while a cold front and its associated trough approach the state from the west. The system is forecast to cross the state during Friday and Saturday bringing gusty showers to the inland and ranges.

Behind this, a broad high pressure ridge is likely to sit across the state on Sunday. Another cold front is expected to cross the state early next week.

What are we expecting?

The NSW SES advises these weather conditions may cause:

  • Medium chance of showers in the west, most likely in the morning and afternoon. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere.
  • Snow possible above 1800 metres.
  • Winds northwesterly 25 to 35 km/h turning westerly 30 to 45 km/h during the morning then decreasing to 20 to 30 km/h during the evening.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.

What you need to do:

  • Stay near to safe shelter if possible.
  • Monitor warnings issued by NSW SES on our website and Facebook page and check the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.
  • Monitor the local situation by watching the weather around you.
  • Consider exposure to cold temperatures and limit time outdoors if possible.
  • Wear suitable waterproof protective clothing when outdoors. Always wear a hat or beanie to avoid losing body heat.
